Cosi

Cosi will be presented on the last two weekends of November, 22nd, 23rd, 29th and 30th.

The production will be directed by Amelia Fox.

“Cosi” is a play by Australian playwright Louis Nowra, set in a mental institution in Melbourne during the early 1970s. The story follows Lewis Riley, a young university student who takes on the job of directing a play with the patients of the institution as part of a therapeutic program. Despite his initial reluctance and lack of experience, Lewis agrees to direct Mozart’s opera “Cosi Fan Tutte,” chosen by the enthusiastic patient Roy. “Cosi” is a poignant exploration of human connections, the transformative power of art, and the complexity of mental health. It balances humour and pathos to offer a compassionate and insightful commentary on the lives of those often marginalized by society.
